Meadow Brush Clearing
September 9, 2018 @ 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM
Please join the Acton Land Stewards on Sunday September 9, 2018 10AM to 1PM as we defend one of our meadows against forest succession. We want to do this before the town does it’s annual fall mowing. Tasks include: Hauling brush and logs out of the meadow; Cutting down small trees which the mower can not reach; Removing rocks which have rolled off the stone walls into the meadow; and Chainsawing to clear big downed trees. (Only town employees with training are allowed to use chainsaws) Please bring work gloves, pruning loppers, and bow saws. Expect some poison ivy and briers. Please contact Joe Holmes (Joseph.Holmes@alum.mit.edu, 978-635-1982) so I can know how many to expect, and let you know which meadow we are going to tackle.
